FAQ's

How Do I Participate?

Veterans or family members wishing to participate should complete a Service Data Form Town of Colonie, NY Veterans database download file and provide a photograph of the veteran. Digital files can be emailed or if a digital photograph is not available, applicants can bring one 8" x 10" (or smaller) photograph of the veteran (preferably in uniform) to one of the data collection locations. The photo will then be digitally scanned by a volunteer and returned while you wait. The database of service information will be created from the facts collected on the Service Data Forms. The entire process should only take a few minutes.

Who Is Eligible?

War time veterans, living or deceased, who served in World War I, World War II, Vietnam, The Persian Gulf War, Iraq or at any other time. The project is open to veterans presently residing in the Town of Colonie or who resided in the Town at the time of the conflict. Men and women from all military branches of service - Army, Army Air Corp / Air Force. Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and Merchant Marine will be documented.

The Town of Colonie Veterans Memorial was formally unveiled to the public on Tuesday, August 25, 2009

The Goal

The goal is that the Town of Colonie Veterans Memorial will serve not only to remember and honor the Colonie veterans that served in the past but keep in our thoughts those serving today as well as serve as a reminder for future generations of the courage and sacrifice of all veterans.
