A Memorial for All Veterans.
The Town of Colonie Veterans Memorial honors the men and women from the Town of Colonie, both living and deceased, who served in the armed forces. Although a few memorials exist in different hamlets of the Town, this is the only memorial in the Town of Colonie that honors all Town veterans, from all military branches of the service and all wars.
The 2,500 square foot memorial is a welcome addition to The Crossings of Colonie located in proximity to the children's playground. It is hoped that the memorial will serve not only to remember and honor the Colonie veterans that served in the past but keep in our thoughts those serving today as well as serve as a reminder for future generations of the courage and sacrifice of all veterans.
The project was a coordinated effort between the Robert L. Weininger Memorial Post 8692, the Town of Colonie and the community. Construction of the memorial was completed with money raised by the Colonie Veterans Memorial Committee from businesses, residents and through several fundraisers.
